Prices, lessons and practical questions

A few things to know before your first lesson.

How much is a driving lesson?

A standard two-hour lesson is $199. New students pay $150 for their first lesson, saving $49. Each includes instruction, discussion and the end-of-lesson assessment.

Who teaches the lessons?

Darren and Lynne Bateson, the owners of ABCDE Driving School, are also the instructors. Each brings more than 20 years of commercial and non-commercial driving experience.

Can you help nervous students?

Yes. We begin at the student’s current level, with calm explanations and gradual progression. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities.

Do you teach adults as well as teens?

Yes. We teach beginners, students with some experience and adults refreshing their driving skills.

What vehicles do you use?

Two dual-control 2027 Kia Seltos vehicles, each with instructor-side brake and gas pedals.

Will parents receive feedback?

Yes. After every lesson, your instructor completes a structured assessment describing progress, strengths and areas to practise. A copy is provided to the parent.

Can you pick up from home or school?

Where possible, subject to location and scheduling. Another agreed location may also be arranged. Any extra travel cost outside our usual catchment is discussed and agreed in advance.

What does Road Test Concierge include?

For $199: a one-hour lesson immediately before the test, use of the instructor’s vehicle for the test, and a ride back to home or school. The student does not drive after the test. Ask us to confirm availability and arrangements.

How many lessons will I need?

It depends on experience, ability and confidence. Your instructor assesses progress individually and explains what still needs work.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. ABCDE Driving School is fully licensed and insured.

Can I speak with the instructor before lessons?

Yes. We encourage open communication with students and parents about confidence, progress, safety and the arrangements for learning.

What should I bring?

Bring your official driver permit to every lesson, wear appropriate attire and closed-in shoes, and bring required glasses or hearing aids. Confirm the lesson agreement with Darren or Lynne before starting.

Your next step starts with a conversation.

Talk to Darren or Lynne about availability and arrangements.
